A Soviet field-camp guard dog - alert, standing, harness or simple collar. The unsung sentry of a Red Army rear area. Period: WWII Eastern Front, 1941-1945.
Dogs served the Red Army in many roles - sentry, sled, messenger, medical evacuation, even the controversial anti-tank programme. Camp guard dogs - mostly East European shepherd types - were a routine feature of any battalion bivouac.
Painting tips
- Coat: dark saddle with tan flanks and muzzle (classic shepherd pattern).
- Eyes: very small amber dots.
