A French cuirassier in steel breastplate and horsehair-crested helmet, dismounted, standing at ease. The heavy cavalry trooper off his horse - massive on foot, slow to admire, fast on a charge. Period: Napoleonic Era, 1799-1815.
The Cuirassiers were Napoleon's shock heavy cavalry - 12 regiments by 1812, recognisable across any battlefield by the polished cuirass and the horsetail crest. Eylau, Borodino, and Waterloo are all their battles.
