Squad Automatic Gunner Kneeling

A modern infantry squad automatic gunner kneeling on one knee - light machine gun braced at the shoulder, bipod folded, drum or belt feed at the receiver. Plate carrier with extra ammo pouches. Period: Modern war, 1990-present.

The squad automatic weapon (M249 SAW / FN Minimi family) is the modern infantry section's organic suppressive fire. The gunner carries 600-1000 rounds of 5.56mm linked ammunition and provides the base of fire for bounding movement.

Painting tips

  • Uniform: MultiCam, OCP, or partner pattern.
  • Plate carrier: matching with extra-large ammo pouches and IFAK.
  • Helmet: matte earth with cover.
  • SAW: matte black/very dark earth with bright optic.
  • Drum/box magazine: matte black with bright link tab.
