The squad automatic weapon (M249 SAW / FN Minimi family) is the modern infantry section's organic suppressive fire. The gunner carries 600-1000 rounds of 5.56mm linked ammunition and provides the base of fire for bounding movement.
Painting tips
- Uniform: MultiCam, OCP, or partner pattern.
- Plate carrier: matching with extra-large ammo pouches and IFAK.
- Helmet: matte earth with cover.
- SAW: matte black/very dark earth with bright optic.
- Drum/box magazine: matte black with bright link tab.
- Knee pads: matte dark earth.
