Radio Operator With Handset

A modern infantry radio operator standing or kneeling - backpack tactical radio, antenna up, handset to ear, free hand on the rifle sling. Period: Modern war, 1990-present.

The patrol RTO (radio-telephone operator) carries the platoon's voice net - typically Harris/L3 PRC-117/152 family. Stays close to the patrol leader; the antenna marks him as a priority target.
