A Ukrainian FPV drone operator kneeling - goggles down over the eyes, dual-stick controller in both hands, plate carrier, helmet pushed back. Period: Russo-Ukrainian War, 2022-present.

FPV (first-person-view) racing-quadcopter drones converted into one-way strike weapons have defined the Ukrainian and Russian battlefields since 2023. Operators work in pairs - pilot in goggles plus a spotter with antenna/video relay - usually from a treeline or trench fifty metres back. The cost per strike is under $500.
