A small Soviet field stove - sheet-metal body, short chimney pipe, hinged door, set down on packed earth. The other end of a cook's day from the ladle. Period: WWII Eastern Front, 1941-1945.
Portable wood-burning stoves heated dugouts and command tents and did light cooking duty for small detachments across the Red Army. The pattern is consistent from the Karelian forests to the Stalingrad ruins.
Painting tips
- Body: dark steel with rust streaks at seams.
- Chimney: lighter where heat-stripped, soot at the tip.
