Satellite Dish Field Terminal

A deployable satellite dish field terminal - tripod or folded-case stand, ~60-90 cm dish, cabling running to a control box. The off-grid comms link of every remote outpost. Period: Modern war, 1990-present, Sahel region.

Modern small VSAT and military satcom terminals (PRC-117G with satellite extension, BGAN, INMARSAT) make remote outpost comms possible. The Sahel - vast, low-infrastructure - runs on satellite when it runs at all.

Painting tips

  • Dish: matte off-white or muted desert tan.
  • Mount and case: matte dark earth or olive drab.
  • Cabling: matte black with bare-metal connectors.
  • Dust and sand at the base.
