A short sandbag firing bay built into a trench parapet - stacked bags with a U-shaped fire slot, wooden plank rest along the top, mud and shell-splash at the base. Period: Russo-Ukrainian War, 2022-present.
Sandbag bays in trench parapets are universal field-fortification across history; the Russo-Ukrainian front built them by the kilometre. Each bay positions a rifleman or machine-gunner with overhead cover and a defined fire arc.
