A short section of concrete jersey barrier - sloped sides, flat top, faded paint stripe, mud splash at the base. The universal traffic-control block of the modern checkpoint. Period: Modern war, 1990-present, Sahel region.
Jersey barriers - reinforced concrete blocks 80-90 cm tall - have been a standard road-control fixture worldwide since the 1950s. In a Sahel context they channel vehicles into a single lane, force a slowdown, and provide partial cover for the sentry.
Painting tips
- Concrete: muted off-white grey with sepia wash in cracks.
- Stripe: faded yellow or white, scuffed.
- Mud splash on the lower 1/3.
- Optional graffiti tag for a busier scene.
