A Civil War canvas A-frame (wedge) tent - simple ridge pole, two side panels, peg lines. The standard Union and Confederate field tent. Period: American Civil War, Battle of Gettysburg, 1-3 July 1863.
The A-frame wedge tent was the standard issue field shelter of both armies - quick to pitch, shed rain, slept four to six men. Replaced over the course of the war by the lighter shelter-half / pup tent, but still ubiquitous through Gettysburg.
