A burned vehicle door pulled from a wreck and propped as an improvised trench shield - scorched paint, shattered window frame, mud-caked underside. The scavenged armour of the modern infantryman. Period: Russo-Ukrainian War, 2022-present.
Soldiers on both sides scavenge body panels from burned-out vehicles to make improvised shields, trench-roof plates, and cover slabs. A car door stops shrapnel and small-arms surprisingly well; a burned-out tank's road wheel makes a head-cover. Universal scavenging of the modern war.
Painting tips
- Body: faded paint (white, grey, or olive) with scorch-black at the edges.
- Bare metal: bright steel scrape at impact points.
- Window frame: dark steel with shattered-glass remnants.
- Mud and ash overall; rust streaks in panel folds.
