A single Napoleonic-era wooden wagon wheel - spoked hub, iron tyre, leaning on its rim. The detail that turns a flat patch of base into a parked baggage train. Period: Napoleonic Era, 1799-1815.
Grande Armée logistics rolled on thousands of two- and four-wheeled wagons - caissons for ammunition, fourgons for officer kit, requisitioned farm carts for grain and forage. Spare wheels, broken wheels, and wheels off for greasing were part of every camp scene.
Painting tips
- Felloes and spokes: warm wood with sepia wash, lighter drybrush on worn edges.
