The straight-backed spindle chair - English Windsor pattern and its Continental variants - dominated middle-class dining rooms across Europe and the Americas. Survives unchanged into modern repro furniture.
Painting tips
- Wood: warm walnut/cherry brown with sepia wash.
- Spindles: slightly darker at the ends.
- Optional period paint: dark green, black, or muted ochre.
- Dust and wear at the foot contact.
