A barrel with one or two staves split - the iron hoop holding the failed wood in place, contents partly spilled, an obvious narrative prop. Period: multi-era, c. 100 CE - 1900 CE.
A broken barrel is a story prop - rolled too hard, dropped off a wagon, shot through in war. The variety pack's narrative piece, useful for dock chaos, battle damage, or a peasant scene.
Painting tips
- Staves: warm wood with sepia wash; split stave: cleaner pale interior wood at the break.
- Hoops: dark iron, rust at the joints.
- Spilled contents: paint to context (pale grain, dark wine, salt-white, black powder).
- Mud and dust at the contact line.
